Born in Vancouver and raised across Canada, Ian Cromwell has one true home: the stage. A classical violinist by training, Ian has spent more than 20 years performing with classical ensembles, symphonies, quartets, and as a solo performer. His charismatic performances have made him a repeat performer at events such as the Science World ‘Science of Cocktails’, and Car Free Day Vancouver. He has performed to crowds of up to 700 people performing at private events, weddings, festivals, and venues including Guilt & Company, The Railway Club, and The Belmont.
Ian’s love and deep passion for music winds its way through alternative, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B to take the form of punched-up funky interpretations of rock and pop classics. His dynamic solo performances blend funky guitar rhythms, bass, soaring violin, percussive hits, and powerful vocals through the use of a loop pedal. He showcases his eclectic musical taste crafting multi-layered soundscapes that always leave the audience wanting more. Outside of his solo work Ian is the founder of Locals Lounge, a grassroots-driven company focused on building community within Vancouver’s music scene. Through Locals Lounge he has curated events with Vancouver Mural Festival, Creative Mornings, and A Better Life Foundation. Ian is a champion for underrepresented folk and a force paving the way for a rich interwoven music community.
